For our preliminary filming exercise, we went to Brighton for the day to apply some of our skills and practice our filming skills. Our aim was to explore Brighton in search of interesting, inspiring and exciting locations for our video. We had a shot list of many different styles and kinds of shots which we needed to complete. These shots included :
-MLS panning establishing shot for narrative/performance
-use of high/low angle for performance
-footage for sped up shot of character in crowd
-POV handicam shot
-360 pan
-tracking shot of character/performer walking in first person mode of address
-a range of close ups suitable for instruments...
-and at least two other shots of our own design
We managed to shoot most of these shots including many of our own design throughout the day. We managed to shoot a lot of footage and now have edited the footage into a short video.

Well done Joe/Paul - you made the most of the opportunity to experiment with the camera and practice your performance! I particularly liked stop motion, station shot (could have been faster) and 360 swish pan. A few tips:
ReplyDeleteAvoid zoom at all cost - you won't need it with fast paced editing
Unless specifically doing a handicam style shot, keep the camera steady - that is part of the mark scheme.
Great work
Just to echo boys, well done. Don't forget that it is a 'high angle' shot ie looking down on subject and 'low angle' shot when the camera is low and pointing upwards, you will need to use proper terms.
