An auteur video is one that has a very unique director who is able to create postmodern videos in their own unique creative style.
'Praise You' by Fatboy Slim was directed by Spike Jonze, he has a unique creativity which shows in the way his videos are produced. They have their own style which makes them unique. 'Praise You' is a very lo-fi video which obviously had a very low budget, which was only $800. However, its effect is massive and does not need so much of a 'glamour' video because its style is so unique. The way that the camera is used to capture all of the dancers in the video is very clever.
His style is so unique that for this video he used himself to star in the video, once he had shown it to Fatboy Slim he was given the go ahead to make it work. The video was so succesful that it won three major awards at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards: It won the Breakthrough Video, Best Direction (awarded to "Torrance Community Dance Group") and Best Choreography (awarded to "Richard Koufey (Spike Jonze)It was also nominated for, but did not win, Best Dance Video.
