PW - Music Video Idea

Continually throughout the production of our own music video. I have watched many other music videos so to keep track of what we are essentially aiming to produce. This is so we do not go off track of the whole music video idea and the purposes of it.

The music video 'Dont Mug Yourself' by The Streets is a very lo - fi and low budgeted video which uses simple techniques and styles.

In this music video I especially noticed and liked two different things. One was at the time 0:20 - 0:30 where the lead singer is seen pouring salt onto the table. However when the camera changes shot and pans out it shows that the salt has been layed out in such a way that it resembles the outline of a woman which would have been drawn out by an artist. This helps the reader to understand what the singer is thinking in his head which gives a bit of information away other than the lyrics. However, the image is spoilt when the waitress brings over two plates of full english breakfasts and puts it ontop of the salt. This action could be conveyed into many different ideas, one that is that he is more interested in other things than women which is why the image is covered up.

The second thing I liked about this music video is the use of stop motion. At the time 1:33 - 1:37 the lead singer is seen drinking a pint of beer in long shot. He then puts the glass down on the table and as soon as it hits the table the beer is seen quickly decrease as if it is being drunk but not moved. This insinuates that he is a heavy drinker in the video and that he has no problem in drinking large amounts of alcohol. This could be conveyed as him being rebellious or not caring about his well being.
